11 Signs Your Not Trusting Jesus

Have you ever found yourself telling Jesus what to do?


Trusting Jesus can often be a difficult thing.  As, a result, we often tell Jesus how our lives should be run and refuse to put our trust and faith in His greater plan.


How many times have you told Him what needs to be done? Because, of course, you know what's best. Only, to find yourself feeling like a fool because you know Jesus is The King and knows what's best for all of His beloved. What a waist of time trying to be a control freak!

Having It My Way
Instead of Trusting
JESUS

The Lord showed me in a dream just how much I was trying to have things my way and how my disobedience is such a waist of time.  I was able to recognize that God gets His way.  Either, you can do things His way, (the easy way by being obedient the first time), or you can have your way, for a little while, but must after repent for your mistake and back track to get into God's greater plan.

I would like to share with you a dream the Lord used to show me, my own sinful controlling nature by not trusting Jesus in all things.  

Trusting Jesus
(The Dream)

1. Your not trusting Jesus if you are always telling Him what He should do in your life.


Bought A House
(Dream)

It went like this.  Jesus and I had bought a house together. I had unpacked most of our stuff and had the house looking reasonably neat. The yard was massive, almost like the size of a large park.  It had a white fence built in the back yard. 

It was located about half the distance between the house and the property line, let's say about 20 meters from the house.

The 3 1/2 half foot fence was not complete.  It was only 3 quarters of a straight line. Behind, and in front of the fence was green grass, no trees.  However, there were trees to the right of the house. I could see all of this clearly looking out from my sliding back doors which lead onto the deck.

Bought A House
(Interpretation)

My house with Jesus, as my husband, is when I asked Jesus to live in my heart.  Together, He lives with me and helps me see what my house needs.  Trusting Jesus to deal with things from my past - my backyard.

He showed me how I was not very well protected from the enemy nor was I very productive.  Only growing grass that grows with short roots, and produces no fruit but still looks pretty.  However,  if I remain seated with Him, at the right hand of God, I too, will produce strong tree's with deep roots.

As the Scriptures say, "People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field.  The grass withers and the flower fades.  But the word of the Lord remains forever."

1 Peter 1:24-25

2.  Your not trusting Jesus if you  think you can keep things from Him.


Preparing For A Tree
(Dream) 

So, now that you can image, I hope, what things looked like.  So, let me tell you what happened.  

Since the yard was lacking in tree's, Jesus and I both agreed that we needed to plant more. I stayed in the house to continue cleaning and putting stuff away. Also, to look after our three kids.  I could still see Jesus in the back yard through the sliding glass doors.  

Jesus went were I told him to go, behind the fence to dig a hole for the new tree we wanted to plant.  As He was digging holes and I was organizing the house, Jesus began to bring in old things that He was finding in the dirt.  Before I new it my kitchen and living room where full of stuff.  I started to get a little upset with Jesus, because, I had the house looking pretty neat, and He was messing it up!

Preparing For A Tree 
(Interpretation)

Jesus only want's good things for us.  No good can come from trying to hide things from Him.  He knows what's there, even the things that we have forgotten about. When other's think we have our lives all nice and organized, Jesus knows the truth.  As we focus on Him, He will show us things from our past that we have buried, that need to be dealt with.  

Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

 3.  Your not trusting Jesus if your not believing in the power of His blood.


Digging Holes 
(Dream)

As I opened the sliding door and took a step onto the deck to tell Jesus just what I thought about him messing up my reasonably neat house, I noticed our dog.  I didn't know how he got outside, but, their he was, digging up holes in the back yard behind the fence line with Jesus. 

I became upset that our dog was getting dirty and would mess up my house, (even more) when he comes back inside. 

I yelled these concerns to Jesus so that he could hear me.  But, found myself shocked to see, that no matter how many holes or how deep they were, he was not getting dirty at all!

Digging Holes 
(Interpretation)

Comparing Jesus to a dog doesn't seem very holy but, He did this for my own understanding.  I hope that you can see past the poor comparison that God had to used with me.  Not, because He couldn't have used a more glorious representation of Jesus but, because of my own mental lack. I pray that you are able to see His pure genuineness of it!  In order to allow my simple mind to understand His powerful dream. 



Imagine this: The pure joy that a dog receives during the whole act of digging up a bone, a lost treasure. Nothing could be better for a dog then the enjoyment of chewing on an old bone dug up from the back yard.  Even more so if it's a bone he thought was lost.  Think of how much effort that dog would be willing to put into the digging up of that bone. There would be no stopping him!

In that same way Jesus desires to dig up our past hurts and chew them up for us, never to be seen again.  He loves us so much, that there is no bone too big, or too small, that He doesn't wants to find.  Only He has the power to consume them and still stay clean! 

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

1 John 1:9

 4. Your not trusting Jesus if your not believing your past can be forgiven.


The Old Stuff
(Dream)

Before I knew it, there was Jesus standing with yet another thing in his hands for me to find a place for. By this time I was very frustrated. 

No matter how much I worked to organize and clean my house it didn't seem to work.  

Every time I turned around there was Jesus with something else He had dug up for me.  More things I had to find a place for in my now, very cluttered house.  

I looked at him with my wifely frustration as He handed me one more object He had found.  Thankfully this time it was something small,  just a dirty broken calculator. Then I asked Him, 

"What am I supposed to do with all this stuff?"

Jesus, my loving and very patient husband, smiled like nothing was wrong and said to me,

"We'll deal with it."

Like it was no big deal! Mean while there wasn't a place free to walk on my floor due to dirty boxes and old stuff I had discarded away as unneeded or broken. Somehow though, I wasn't too worried about it anymore. His words had given me comfort.

The Old Stuff 
(Interpretation)

Jesus wants us to be free from our past, not carrying the weight of our past sins and hurts around with us. He is eager to help us receive his freedom and healing by trusting Jesus and the power of His precious blood.

Jesus will patiently and gently bring up events to your mind and ask you,

"What about this? Are you ready to let Me deal with this?  Will you use my blood to cover this hurt or sin? Will you let me make you clean and whole? Will you receive My forgiveness? If you let me I will heal your heart beyond your imagination!"

Jesus is the only One who can bring comfort and piece and He's eagerly wanting to give it to you, if you will just receive it.  He is the bringer of all peace and righteousness and He gives it to us freely for the asking.  

He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right.  By His wounds you are healed.

1 Peter 2:24

 5. Your not trusting Jesus if you think He can not resurrect your old dreams for His glory.

Lost Dreams
(Dream)

My son noticed the broken calculator so I asked him if he wanted it.  He of course thought that would be fabulous. So I told him I should clean it first then he could have it for a toy.

The end was broken off of the calculator leaving the inside empty, or so I thought.  As I began to wipe off the calculator face, dirt began to fall out of the inside.  I took it to the washroom to wash it better with water. In doing so more hidden stuff fell out. A bunch of leaves and a pen.

I was very glad that I chose to clean the calculator properly before giving it to my son. Because, for some strange reason I felt strongly that the pen was some kind of deadly weapon and that my son could have hurt himself with it.

5b - Broken & Empty Calculator = Broken and lost dreams. Thought there was no hope for them. Everything that I thought I needed for my dreams to succeed was gone.

5c - Washing The Calculator = Jesus can make all the dreams you thought gone new again.

5d - Leaves & A Pen = That is the stuff my dreams are made of. Leaves from the vine and a pen for the words He gives me to write.

5e - A Deadly Weapon = The ministry that the Lord has called me to, the Devil will not like, as with anything we do for Christ.


Lost Dreams
(Interpretation)

All Saints who have unfulfilled dreams that the Lord has put inside you, this Broken Calculator is for you!  Claim it for yourself and take hope that in God's perfect timing it will be fulfilled, trust Jesus!

Take my testimony as hope for yourself.  I've wanted to write for almost 25 years (yes I'm dating myself:)  But believed I was not smart enough. I even had people laugh at me when I told them my dream of writing because they too, new I wasn't the smartest student in school.  But the dream still remained today, I just buried it in my past along with my many other failures.

So now, here I am with my resurrected dream that the Lord has opened the door for.  Even though it's not perfect, full of spelling errors and poor sentence structure, He has still given me words to wright. Jesus has lovingly and gently encourage me to step into my dream. Only He has been able to built up my faith and confidence to step out and share with others.  He's always telling me "you can do this!"  I'm here with you every step of the way."

So if your dream is to write then write what God has called you to write. If your dream is to be a mother, a teacher, a soccer coach, what ever it is, seek Jesus and He will open a door for it to happen!

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.  Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

6.  Your not trusting Jesus if your not believing that Jesus has great plans for you.


Barking Orders
(Dream)

Once again, I found myself telling my loving husband Jesus, what to do. I was standing on our deck, just outside the sliding doors.  Barking orders as to were I think our new tree should be planted.  Of course, I new were the best spot was, just behind the white fence.

There were no trees in that area and I, in my all knowing wisdom,  thought that is were it needed to be.  Right in the same area were all those holes were. Right where my dog had been digging them at.

Barking Orders 
(Interpretation)

There I was again, telling Him what to do not trusting in Jesus.  Thinking that my idea's were the best idea's and that He really does not know what's best.  My controlling nature was as usual, raising it's big ugly head.I was resisting leaving my comfort zone.  After Jesus had graciously dug up all the old things in my back yard that was bearing rotten fruit, there I was, insisting on going back to that area of comfort. But, He new better!  Jesus new that nothing would grow in bad soil. Soil that was contaminated by old things. (old thinking, old actions, old results) Through a life time of hiding objects underground and out of sight. Even still they were a destructive force, seeping their toxins into the soil, rendering it useless for future tree's.  Unless, that area was emptied and cleansed no good would be able to come from it.  The toxins would eventually spread into other fruitful area's of my yard destroying every good plant I had.

Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. 

Proverbs 11:2

7.  Your not trusting Jesus if you are trying to do everything yourself.


Jesus Planting
(Dream)

Mean while I went back into my house to continue working on cleaning up the place. Then I seen Jesus not in the right place, not were I told him to be.  

I flew open the sliding doors, ready to give my husband a piece of my mind for disobey my perfect suggestion for the tree planting location when I seen it.Jesus, bent over, patting the dirt down around the tree He had just finished planting.  In the very opposite place that I had told him to plant it.   

Then, suddenly my thoughts came into agreement with His.  I too, agreed with Him that the location He had chosen for the tree was perfect.  Far better then where I had wanted it to be.As I watched Jesus patting the dirt down around that young tree, I was surprised to see that out of His back pocket was yet another beautiful baby tree just ready to be planted.  I thought we only had one tree to plant but somehow He had more.

Jesus Planting

There I was again, still trying to clean up my life on my own and not trusting Jesus.  When am I going to get it? Jesus is the cleansing blood that I need to truly be made clean.  I need to trust in Him for everything!When I began to think like Jesus thinks, things looked better and were better.  Bringing my thoughts into alignment with His word is the only thing that sets us free from our past.The greatest thing was that no matter how stubborn I was in demanding my way, Jesus was so patient and loving with me.  And, in His greatness He had another tree to plant for me.  He had more for me then I could have imagined or hoped for. Jesus is so good!

The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy.  My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

John 10:10

8. Your not trusting Jesus by not believing that Jesus will always help you when you need it.


Locking Up the Dog
(Dream)

As, I stood looking at how amazing the tree's location was and realizing that my husband, Jesus, knew better then myself.  It began to rain softly. 

I knew it would soon turn into a storm at any second.So, of course, I wanted to get my dog inside before he got muddy and therefor could potentially get my house dirty. 

 He came immediately inside when I called him.  I quickly put him into his dog kennel beside the sliding doors.

Locking Up the Dog
(interpretation)

You know it, whenever things are going good it seems to bring in the storms! And here I was, once again, worried about appearances.  I was so interested in what my house might look like that I quickly forgot who was helping me to fully and completely make my house spotless.  The blood of Jesus.Jesus, being so full of grace, quickly came when I called for Him. Even though He probable already new that I would lock Him up in the dog kennel, like I had so many times before.  Yet, He still desires to heed the call of my voice.  Desperate for Him to come to me quickly in my time of worry and stress I seemed to fall back into my old ways and was not trusting in Jesus. 

For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in loving kindness to all who call upon You. 

Psalm 86:5

9. Your not trusting Jesus when your not believing that you have His power to defeat your enemy.


A Hidden Door
(Dream)

Stepping back outside and calling out to Jesus, my husband, to come inside too. I noticed out of the corner of my eye a small door, flapping in the wind on the side of the house. I walked back into my house determined to find the location of this door that I had never seen before. I was very surprised when I found it.

It was a normal sized door on the inside of the house, it was almost like a door to a closet. But, when I looked through the crack of the open door I could see a smaller door about the size of a piece of paper.  This door too was cracked open and I could see a little outside. 

Within these two doors there was enough space for a small ledge. On this ledge were some of my old favourite things.  Also, on the ledge were 2 large golden necklaces that I had never seen before.

As I looked through the two cracked opened doors I could see a man on the other side and I could hear voices of more people outside talking.  Even though I could see this man clearly I thought it was strange that he couldn't see me looking at him. Then he reached his hand into the small door, on the outside of the house, to get the gold necklaces.  I shocked him when I said,

"Don't touch that!"     

He had no idea I was there. The man quickly removed his hand and stepped away from the small outside door.

A Hidden Door
(Interpretation)

As long as we are always calling out and trusting Jesus things will be o.k.

Once we have allowed Jesus to clean our backyards, so to speak, then we can see things more clearly.  Our focus is not on the things of the past but, on the present and future. We can see the enemy when he is trying to sneak his way in, even in the smallest of spaces.  When there is just a crack left open in an area of our lives, Jesus is faithful to reveal it to us and help us shut the door on the enemy.  

When Satan does try to steal the good things from us, we have the power to be an over comer.  Through the name of Jesus we have the authority to rebuke the enemy and command him to leave.

Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9-11

10. Your not trusting Jesus when you don't believe  you are an heir with Christ Jesus.


Fraternizing With The Enemy
(Dream)

Somehow, I was able to squeeze through that small door. I found myself standing on a very high platform above this man and the others there.  

 asked them what they wanted.  The man became very friendly.  He said to me,

"I have come to buy your house.  Your husband can't fix this house up because he does not have an important name, he has no letters behind his name.  I have 10 sons. Five already have an education giving them initials behind their names. Four others are getting their education now, and the youngest is to young yet.  I want your house because, you have the most land anywhere in town.  Making it the most valuable.  I wan't to tear down your house and build my own, for me, my son's, their wives, and their children."

For some strange reason what he said didn't bother me. I had no intentions of selling my house to him.  I politely continued to make small talk with this man and his sons and their wives that were there even though, I new that they wanted to take away my house.

Fraternizing With the Enemy
(Interpretation)

Through Christ Jesus we are situated in high places with Him!

Satan is the great deceiver and he is always try to steal from us what we have been given freely through Jesus.  He tries to plant seeds of doubt in our minds about  who we are in Christ.  He lies in an efforts to pull us away from what Jesus has for us. 

The Devil knows that what we have in Christ is so valuable that he uses every trick he can  to achieve his mission. ( The destruction of believers in Christ Jesus.)  He wants to keep us in doubt of what Christ has already done for us and what is truly available to all believers.

He wants to pull us off that platform of high places with Christ.  to keep us down in the low places with him. Through this he can keep us from doing the plans Christ has for our lives.  If the enemy can keep us in the low places than he can keep us from being effective light bearers to the world for Jesus.

For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:6

11.  Your not trusting Jesus when you don't believe He protect you from harm.


The Freedom Dog
(Dream)

As I looked around all the people there I noticed my dog walking among them.  I remember thinking how did he get out here? I locked him in the dog kennel.

All of the people their noticed the dog but didn't reach out to pet him like I would have expected them to. Like most people would, he was a very friendly looking dog. (not exactly like the one in this picture, try to think more golden retriever.)  

But, I was glad he was there because, I knew that    He would keep me safe from these people.

The Freedom Dog
(Interpretation)

There is no controlling Jesus! 

Even when we think we have locked Him away safely, in the places that we have allowed Him to be within our lives, He is still everywhere. Jesus is always with us through the good and the bad, the light places and the dark places, the high places and the low places, no matter where we are we can be assured that He is there too. We have to learn to trust in Jesus.

Jesus is the only One who can bring freedom and security.  Through His shed blood all our needs big and small are meet.

When we are doing battle with the enemy, Jesus is there, holding the keys to our victory, and our enemy knows it!  Our enemy recognize Jesus's great power and authority, he knows that King Jesus could tear him apart like a protective guard dog with just one word.  Satan constantly tries to lure us away from Jesus, but, if we keep our eyes on our Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ, we will not be tempted to believe his lies.

"...let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.  And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.  We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith."

Hebrews 12:2

Final Words

Stop trying to clean your house up by yourself and start trusting in Jesus to help you do it!   He knows exactly what needs to be cleaned, and how it needs to be cleaned to get the best sparkly clean house in town:)

Keep yourself situated in the high places with Christ, far above those dirty thieves!

Allow Jesus to walk with you among your enemies.  You will surely be victorious with Him by your side.  By putting your trust and faith in Jesus, and giving Him the control over your life, He will be your protector, your rescuer, and your redeemer.
